And then came more rain

We have arrived safe and sound at Pioneer Village here in North Fort Myers. The change in the temperature was immediately noticeable. The highs are running around 76 in the day and the lows are in the low 60's. The traffic here in Fort Myers is incredible. They have the grid system of roads down here with a major intersection every half mile. That means you run into the dreaded 4 way left turn signal which means you have a total of 8 light changes for each intersection. First the left turn green, then the straight ahead green all the way around the intersection. 10 miles in Ballentine is 15 minutes. Here it is 45 minutes to an hour. I have no idea why the people here put up with it but I guess weather trumps convenience. We had dinner with Mary's sister and her husband at Outback Steak House. Outback Steak House is legendary for their attempts at irritating it's customers with annoying music played just a few decibels too loud. I wonder how many sound tracks they listened to before they settled on the one that would irritate the most people.  We got back to the RV just after dark and just got nicely settle in when I heard the first rain drops on the roof. A spattering at first, then a steady drizzle. By bed time it was raining hard. I made my usual potty break and 2 a:m and it was pouring. When I woke up at 6:30 it was a biblical deluge. The only analogy I can come up with is being inside of a steel drum at the bottom of Niagara Falls. It finally let up around 11:00 a:m. When I went outside for the first time I was surrounded by a small lake. Water was everywhere. Guys down the road a ways were putting out fishing poles in the new lake and taking pictures. I didn't have my camera with me so I couldn't get any photos. For lunch we went to the Nauti Parrot which is a little bayside restaurant in Cape Coral. Mary's sister Matha is behind here in the photo. Tim Dugan, Martha's son, is the guy with the orange cap with his wife Robin behind him. The girl with the red hoody is Martha's favorite daughter Debbie while the bearded one is Martha's husband Ray. Photo below.

Lunch at the Nauti Parrot

Back at the park later that afternoon a guy pulled in with a giant 5th wheeler pulled by a giant pick up truck. Near as I could tell they were French so most likely from Canada. They weren't particularly bright as they decided to back their rig into the standing water. I told the guy I wouldn't try that if it were me and he would likely bury it up to the axles if he tried but he went ahead anyway. He promptly buried his 5th wheeler up to the axles in the mud. It's still sitting there. I guess they will have to get a tow truck. Photo below.
Buried Deep

I can't wait to see how they get out of this.
