The Cold

Operating under the assumption a placed called Fort Walton Beach FLORIDA would be at least habitable temperature wise imagine my dismay when Thursday the wind picked up and the fog lifted only to be replaced with rapidly falling temperatures. I mean FALLING temperatures. It went from the 60's to the low 30's in a matter of 8 hours. It was dropping 4 degrees an hour accompanied by 25 mph winds. We woke up Friday morning and it was 34 degrees. Back home in frigid Columbia it was 36 degrees. Delicate Flower refused to crawl out of her nest until I had brought the room temperature up to 74 degrees. I brought her hot coffee, her tablet and smart phone while she was all curled up beneath her bath robe and blankets. I no longer think of Fort Walton Beach as being a city in Florida but a city in south Alabama. Too cold here for it to be a Florida city. Friday turned out to be a better day. We went to the local AMC theatre and watched The Second Best Marygold Hotel. Good movie. In fact it was better than the first one. I highly recommend it. After the movie we had dinner at the Bonefish Grill. We have one in Columbia but it's been years since we went there. I had the pecan crusted rainbow trout. Best trout I ever put in my mouth. Picture below.

Tomorrow we leave for Columbia with an overnight stop just north of Auburn Alabama at a Corp of Engineers park. Should be back home Monday afternoon. All in all a good trip but I should have stayed longer in south Florida.
