Random Thoughts
The annual trip to Florida is now over and we are home safe and sound. The motorhome is securely parked till mid summer and mostly emptied out. To close out this chapter I'll just post a few random thoughts. The roads in South Carolina are terrible. The roads in Florida, Georgia and Alabama are light years ahead of ours. My suspension system suffered more wear and tear in the State of South Carolina than it did on the whole rest of the trip. Road construction is going on everywhere in Florida. Both 75 and 95 are in the process of adding an additional lane for pretty much the whole length of the state. I can't recall the last time I saw a road being repaved or widened here in Columbia. The population of Florida is staggering. Here in Columbia I can be downtown in under 20 minutes and at the airport in under 30. In south Florida a trip of 10 miles can take an hour. I-75 in the Palm Beach area suffers a multi car pile up virtually every day with traffic backed up for miles. Every once in awhile a little advertising jingle gets stuck in my mind. Right now I can't erase that Farmers.com jingle. " You don't have to be lonely, at Farmers only.com." It follows me everywhere I go and I hear it in my head all day long. The good news is it has quieted the other voices in my head. The state of the economy has definitely improved. Everywhere we went the RV parks were full, the restaurants were full and the stores were busy. Construction of all types was going on everywhere we went. Even residential real estate seemed to be going well. It's good to be back home although right now I feel like I'm suffering from jet lag. Hopefully I'll feel better after a few days of adjusting. So long until the summer trip to the mountains to escape the Columbia heat.
