Wednesday and Thursday in the mountains

Didn't do much Wednesday but it was a good day anyway. We drove to Clayton Georgia which is a cute little town just over the North Carolina/Georgia border. The downtown area is full of antique shops which have a lot of interesting stuff. If you were looking for conversation pieces this would be the place to go. Had a fabulous lunch at a place called Rumor Hazit. I had the best Reuben Sandwich I have had in over 40 years. In another lifetime, back in the 70's, I worked in downtown Columbus Ohio. They had a place called The Clock Restaurant which was a Cheers look alike before Cheers was created. In any event they used to serve grilled ham and swiss cheese on rye with sauerkraut and mustard or grilled corned beef, swiss cheese and sauerkraut on rye sandwiches. For over 40 years they held the record which was tied by Rumor Hazit. I would give Rumor Hazit a 10 on a scale of 1-10. Thursday we went to Dillsboro North Carolina. Dillsboro is a cute little tourist trap built around the railroad trips they run through the mountains. If memory serves they run a train between Dillsboro and Bryson City. We took the train ride years ago but passed this time. We ate at a little Greek restaurant called Koskas. Very good, I'd give it an 8 on a scale of 1-10. The highlight of the day was a stop at the Whistle Stop antique mall in Franklin. From the road it gave the appearance of a strip mall but once inside the place goes back forever. I have never seen so many antiques in one place at one time in my life. The quality of the items was astounding. All kinds of stuff from the early 1900's and older. We spent several hours in there and only covered a portion of it. We will definitely return. Not many photo ops but I'll post a few below from Dillsboro.
