Fort Walton Beach Update

Every once in awhile God smiles down on fools and old men. In this case he hit a twofer with me. Yesterday was one of the best days I've had in years. We left the Monticello KOA park around 10:00 o'clock in the morning. This park was located just east of Tallahassee. The night before we stayed at an RV park just outside of Ocala. This was just an overnight stop with nothing to remark about it. The Keeper wanted to stay at the KOA park in Monticello because it served free Belgian waffles for breakfast in the morning. The Keeper likes stuff dripping with syrup and sugar first thing in the morning. It was a nice park as KOA's go but there was no concrete pads so the cursed Florida sand got everywhere. I'm going to have to learn to wear slip on rubber shoes so I can take them off before climbing into the RV. Once we left the park all I could think of is " LIFE IS GOOD ". I put her in cruise at 62 mph on I-10 which is as straight as an arrow. At 62 mph I am only pulling 2000 rpm on the big old 8.1 litre Vortec engine which means it is virtually silent. The stereo, which has a Bose surround sound system with subwoofer, was oozing out great tunes from our collection of cd's. The Keeper was sitting in her catbird seat with a look of total contentment on her face. I've finally given up on hopes of seeing her in the rear view mirrow with a cute little apron over her A line skirt and white high heels fixing me a sandwich. Sigh! My dreams never come come. In any event we pulled into the Destin West Rv Park at mid afternoon for our week long stay. Talk about a slam dunk hole in one choice. The park is brand new and has only been open a week. We got a spot 15' from the white sand beach. We have a bunch of ducks for entertainment and the neighboring rv has a dog that spends hours chasing the ducks. They keep leading him in a circle until he stops from exhaustion. In the evening we had a couple come down on the beach and fish. The woman caught what appeared to be a 4-5 lb red fish. The girl was so happy I thought she would wet her pants. I have a picture of her and the fish and the dog splashing around. I'll also enclose some pictures of the site we are at.
