We had a good last day in Fort Myers. Once again the weather was perfect and everything went smoothly as could be asked for. Mary's sister and her husband came over this afternoon and we went to Hogbody's Rib Place and had some of the best baby back ribs I have ever eaten. I'm not a rib person but these were good ribs. In keeping with our past history of meeting some of the most interesting people in the world on the road we struck up a conversation with a lady out walking her dog. I mean a real dog. This dog was big enough to pull a plow. It sort of reminded me of a black bear only with a kindly face. I will post a picture of it at the end of this blog. The people that own the dog live in central Indiana and are in the farming business. You'll love the next part. They winter about 20 miles south of Lake Superior. Only people I ever met who went NORTH for the winter. Tomorrow we head for Ocala and the next day Tallahassee. Saturday we arrive in Fort Walton Beach to spend a week of relaxing and catching up on reading. Pictures below. Some of you may remember the story of Nanny but for those of you that either don't remember or have never heard the story here is the explanation for the last picture in this set. Back in 1985 Mary's grandmother became unable to care for herself after she had a stroke. Mary and her sister agreed the best thing to do would be to take her into our homes and care for her. As we lived in Columbia, SC and Mary's sister lived in Fort Myers, FL we worked out a system of swapping her back and forth every 6 months. We would usually meet half way for the transfer which would be St. Augustine or Amelia Island Florida. Eventually Nanny passed on we no longer had to make the switch every 6 months. One day I stopped in a truck stop for gas and they had these huge raggedy dolls on the display. I bought one and had it shipped UPS to them in Florida. Ever since we have been transferring " Nanny " back and forth as our trips south dictated. This time it was our turn to keep her for the next 6 months or so. We have her all propped up on the RV sofa but I'll most likely let her sit in the rocker while we are driving
