Mountain Update
It rained all day today. It has rained all evening tonight. It has been one of the best days I've had in years. While all my less fortunate friends back home were eating McDucks horrible egg McWaffles or Bojangles Sausage Burrito's for breakfast I sat down with 4 of the most interesting people I have ever met to dine on the best breakfast I have ever put in my mouth. I forget the official name of the casserole dish but it had lots of eggs, sausage, mushrooms, bread and heaven knows what else but suffice it to say it was fabulous. Tomorrow I will try to browbeat the recipe out of the hostess. I also had a carrot cake muffin which is really more of a dessert than a muffin but I suffice it to say it was terrific. My occasionally loving wife and I were joined by the host and hostess of this fabulous little RV Park and the other two guests. He was a doctor and a professor and his wife was a nurse. They were from Shreveport Louisiana probably up to see the leaves like we were. We dined in the barn which had as decorative pieces 3 vintage antique Volkswagons. Two of them were " Things " and one was a pop top Microbus. The " Things " were copies of WWII German Staff cars that VW sold for a few years back in the 70's. After digesting our gourmet breakfast we drove into Franklin and tended to some business like the Post Office. After that we stopped at a really neat gas station for a late lunch. Yes, I said gas station. The original gas station had 3 bays for auto servicing. They took the 3 service bays and converted them into a bistro type restaurant called Cafe Rel. The interior decorations were fabulous with all kinds of eclectic old stuff covering the walls. The food was fabulous. We each had salads covered with shaved Filet Mignon, French Bread with garlic dip and Creme Brulee for dessert. It makes you wonder what my less fortunate friends back in Columbia had for lunch. Once again Garmin took us for a scenic ride to nowhere. I typed in Walmart and it popped right up. After about 12 miles up a narrow, winding mountain road it told me I had arrived at my destination which consisted of a field with 6 brown cows and a farm house 1/2 a mile back off the road. Well, that's it for today. It's still raining, Mary is getting ready to watch dancing with the stars and I'm getting ready to surf the net.
