Another fabulous day.
Another absolutely fabulous day. As usual the day started out with a gourmet breakfast that Paula Dean can only dream about. It was served in a cast iron skillet and appeared to have spinach, bacon, potato and topped with a sunny side up egg. For bread we had corn bread in a pan and cinnamon bread with frosting, all home made. At this time, as master of the blog, I should make mention of our host and hostess Ken and Kathy Hayes. Kathy is a world renowned artist that paints murals. If you have ever been in a Carraba's Restaurant you have probably seen her murals on the walls. She has decorated over 200 of them. Ken runs the household. He runs the washer, the dryer, the vacuum cleaner and other odd and sundry implements of torture. They stand high on the list of the nicest people I have ever met. Kathy also gives cooking lessons to Paula Dean and Martha Stewart in her spare time. I will enclose some photos we took this evening of Kathy feeding the deer and turkey that overrun the property. In the meantime I will run through the experiences of the day. We went to Highlands, North Carolina which is a quaint little town that sits on top of a 4000' plateau. We dined at the Main Street Inn which, fortunately, had some outside tables looking up at the side of a mountain covered with autumn leaves. As usual, in high dollar tourist traps, the food was excellent. This evening Kathy fed the deer and the turkeys. I will enclose some photos of this event. The Gods blessed us with fantastic weather today. The sky was blue, the cloud were fluffy and white and the temperature was shirt sleeve perfect. More and more I wonder why I am live in that pestilential hell hole called Columbia but that's a story for another day.
