End of Random Thoughts For This Trip

Little things you forget about your old home state. Bugs. Wisconsin is rife with bugs. They don't bother with pesky little gnats like we have in South Carolina. Wisconsin had BIG bugs. Driving down the road at 55 mph there is a constant banging of large insects splattering on your windshield. In South Carolina you can go entire seasons without washing your windshield. In Wisconsin it's almost a daily ritual. They make big yellow splatters and once they dry it's almost like washing off dried plaster. Towards sunset the Mosquitos come out. Huge ravenous Mosquitos. They leave welts the size of dimes after they have had a drink. Walking across tall grass they rise up in clouds. Our filling stations have one extra pump for diesel. In Wisconsin they have one extra pump for Deet. An interesting side subject came up while we visited Washington Island to see the Lavender farm. They don't have a problem with colony collapse on the beehives there. There is no agriculture on Washington Island and being 6.5 miles from the mainland they don't import any of the bee diseases plaguing the whole rest of the country. Probably a healthy place to live what with no chemicals being sprayed on the food crops. In any even I took some pictures of the Lavender farm. We stopped at a place called Fred and Fuzzy's for lunch. Pictures of both are posted below.
