Shelling on Marco Island Beach

We made a little day trip to Marco Island yesterday. According to news reports the shelling on Marco Island Beach was terrific so we decided to see for ourselves. To digress a moment from our day trip I think I have found the perfect place to punish a teenager. There is zero cell phone reception on Chokoloskee Island. I have roaming turned on and it still wouldn't hook up. Not only that there is no over the air TV so unless you have Comcast cable you are completely in the dark. I never realized how addicted I was to my cell phone until we got here. In any event we drove over to Marco Island which is a very pleasant drive. The roads are flat as a pool table, straight as an arrow and in good repair. Marco Island is where rich people go who aren't quite rich enough to live in Naples. The homes are very upscale and they have many canal communities. I like Marco Island very much. Our first stop was the Old Marco Island Lodge which is an old lodge on the waterfront and according to the information has been around for generations. We had a nice lunch on the deck overlooking the bay. Photos below.

After lunch we hit the beach to check out the shelling. It was fabulous as advertised. Photos below.
