Venice Florida

We spent the day at Venice Florida Saturday. Wow and double Wow. Venice is a little slice of paradise hidden on the Florida gulf coast. It's a small town with a population of only 20,000. The streets are wide and multi lane, the traffic is very light and stop lights are far apart. It has a cute little downtown area with gobs of little artsy craftsy shops for the women to browse in and a park bench in front of every one of them for the men to sit and complain on. South Carolina could take lessons from Venice when it comes to hosting tourists. Public parking was everywhere and plentiful, public restrooms were always close by and clean and well kept up. Being a tourist in Venice is a real pleasure. The beaches were even better. We visited 2 beaches, the Venice Municipal Beach and Casperson Beach. Public parking was very generous and public restrooms were at all times close by, clean and well maintained. The municipal beach has a fishing pier that goes way out in the gulf while Casperson Beach is famous for washed up shark's teeth. I am pretty sure we found one and possibly another in just the short while we walked the beach. If you ever get to Florida Venice is a must visit. It is so nice the woman I am currently married to hunted down several Real Estate magazines and started poring over them. All the houses down here have large lots and horseshoe driveways. Mary loves the horseshoe driveways. I think she has visions of stepping out of her BMW in a string bikini and high heel sandals and going into her Spanish Style house with pillars on either side of the entry way and taking a dip in the back yard screened in swimming pool. For my part I have visions of moving down here starting up a landscape service. I can see hiring a dozen or so Hispanics and taking care of the lawns of half the city.  I'll post some pictures below with captions but suffice it to say Venice is a 5 star hit.
