The Big Bang

We started out the Annual Great Florida Swing South a little on the cool and dreary side with some light rain to boot early in the week. We wound up with a Big Bang. The temperatures yesterday were in the mid 70's, not a cloud marred the blue sky and we spent the afternoon and evening with one of the most interesting couples I have ever known. Years ago Readers Digest used to have a weekly article about the most unforgettable person I have ever known. Walter and Bobby Deemer fall into that category perfectly. In addition to being a world renowned investment analyst whose books on investing have been published here in the states he has even been published in China. I own several of his works and have learned a lot from them. If that is not enough they both have wicked senses of humor. Bobby is an avid Ohio State football fan so she drove up to Michigan and planted a buckeye next to the Michigan stadium. Walter, well is Walter, so rather than describe him I'll post a couple of pictures.

This is how Walter greeted us when we rang the door bell. He figured if I could be a Monk he would be the Pope.
Now that is one heck of a greeting. After that jaw dropping greeting Walter was gracious enough to take us on a cruise on the North Fork river. The North Fork runs by his house and which eventually goes out to the Atlantic. We didn't go that far but the North Fork was a terrific cruise. There are no houses on the North Fork so cruising the river is like going back a thousand years in time. Lots of lily pads, palm trees leaning out into the river and enough tropical foliage to let one's imagination run wild. The mind's eye could just see a hippo charging up out of the lily pads are a group of alligators slithering down the banks into the water. There are gators there but we didn't see any.    To finish off a perfect day we went out to dinner at a place called Sam Snead's which is located in the local PGA golf course. I had the prime rib and Mary had the grouper. Both were done well and delicious. All in all a Big Bang up way to end a great stay in Port St. Lucie. Tomorrow we are off to Key Largo.
