Day 6 and 7
Didn't do much on day 6. We visited the local mall and, lo and behold, it's just like the mall back in Columbia except it's turned inside out and all the store fronts are outdoors. The US has become completely homogenized. We eat in the same chain restaurants, we buy our gas from the same chain filling stations and except for the foliage you could be in any city in the US. We did visit a Perkins Pancake House which we don't have in Columbia. It was pretty good but then so are most of the chain eating places. Day 7 was a real treat. Port St. Lucie has a Botanical Gardens with a different twist. It was created from donations from the local community and is run by a non profit foundation and staffed by all volunteers. People volunteer their time to work in the gardens supervised by Master Gardeners. We all know how good at supervising Master Gardeners can be. There is no admission charge but they do have a small jar for donations. Most unusual in this day and age. In any event I will post a few of the many photos I took this afternoon.
