Recent tests and visits to the doctor unearthed the fact that I have been suffering from Gallstones for quite some time now so in light of that and the fact we travel a good bit I thought it would be prudent to have the darn thing removed on my terms as opposed to a week end trip to the emergency room in some strange town 1000 miles from home. I was assured by the doctor and a great number of other people that removing a gall bladder was a very routine outpatient operation that was performed with laparoscopic surgery procedures. I was assured it was 1 hour operation and that I would be in the operating room at 11:00 a.m. and out and discharged by 2:00 p.m. As usual with me nothing ever is easy. I got in by 11:00 but the doctor ran into problems. It seems my gall bladder was withered and atrophied and stuck behind my liver and several other organs so they had to change horses in mid stream and bring out the heavy guns. This requires major surgery and a chain saw. Photo below.
This is going to put a serious dent in my tennis game for awhile I can assure you of that. 4 days in the hospital and I won't be mobile for weeks. As usual I will keep you posted.
