Festival of Lights

Wow! Incredible! The Charleston County Parks & Recreation Festival of Lights is a must see. If you ever get the urge to visit James Island or Charleston in December this is a very worthwhile stop. I will enclose some pictures I took at night but they don't do justice to the displays as my night time photography skills leave a great deal to be desired. A handful of camera shots give no idea of the scale and magnitude of what they have done here. There are over 2 million lights used on the various displays and over 4000 miles of of wire to make it all light up. I'd love to know what the electric bill is but I'd bet it's in six figures. It takes 2 months for park employees to erect all the displays and 2 months to take them down and store them.We took the trolley tour around the park and then walked down to the Winter Wonderland display.  While there we both had one of the best hamburgers we have ever had. I was amazed when we sat down and opened the wrappers. Must have been at least a 1/3 of a pound patty covered in Jalapeno Cheese. Even the bun was good. It didn't get all soggy and fall apart like most hamburger buns do. My reason for living is sick as a dog. She has a monster cold and sounds like a frog croaking when she attempts to speak. Kind of sexy in a way. She has the sound women get that drink a lot of whiskey and smoke a lot of cigarettes get. Not that I would know anything about women like that but I've heard stories.  I looked up the number for the local coroner just in case she doesn't make it. Photos below.

  1. How pretty! How does this compare to Saluda shoals park light show? AAA has written a glowing article
About St.james Island light show too. Sounds like a good holiday venue to visit one day.
