Day 4

Day 4. Day 4 brought us to Ketchikan Alaska on a cloudy rainy day. We have not seen the sun since we left Columbia. Vancouver was cloudy and overcast and Ketchikan is cloudy and rainy. They say the weather all up and down the coast is just like Seattle in that there is only 5-10 days of sunshine per year. I am sure that is an exaggeration but maybe not by much. We took so decent pictures which I will enclose at the end of this commentary. High Tea yesterday was fun and the stop in Ketchikan today was fun. We took in a lumberjack show in Ketchikan. It was fun and just like the ones you see on ESPN complete with axe throwing, log chopping, pole climbing and 2 man log sawing. Ketchikan is pretty much a creation to serve the cruise ships with a fairly good sized fishing industry attached to it. Other than that I can't think of any reason for it to exist. The scenery is wonderful. The tops of the mountains are still covered in snow, everything down below is rain forest green and most of the time you can't see the tops of the mountains because of the low lying cloud cover. I snapped a lot of good photos today so I'll talk less and send more photos.
