Good day at Carrabelle

We had our first decent day weather wise yesterday. It got up into the high 50's accompanied by bright sunshine all day long with nary a cloud in the blue sky. We did all the good stuff. Had a nice walk on a white sand beach. Photo below.

The sand here is very firm and easy to walk on unlike some beaches in Florida. After that we toured the village of Carrabelle which took all of 10 minutes. The downtown area is about one city block long off Hwy 98 and that is it. It did have one attraction worthy of note however. Years ago the police department was housed in one room in a storefront which meant they had no holding cell so they took a phone booth and put a lock on it and used it as a holding cell until the offender could be booked and hauled off to the county jail.  After all this strenuous tourist business we stopped at 2 Brothers restaurant for luch. 2 Brothers is a local place, not much to look at but it came highly recommended by a fellow traveler I met in Destin at the RV Park. Photo Below.

Mary had a Mandarin Orange salad while I dined on a fried pork chop, greens and field peas. Photos below.

My copilot who has been reading the local tourist literature informs me Carrabelle has a crooked light house. Well, who wouldn't want to see a crooked light house so I stop in the local hardware and asked the guy behind the counter where the crooked light house was. He looked at me like I was nuts but did inform me he didn't know about any crooked light house but they did have one about 2 miles down the road on the right. When we got there we found out it was the Crooked River Light House. Copilot error. Photo below.

By way of compensation I cocked the camera a little to give it that crooked look. At the end of the day we captured a pretty decent sunset although the tree line kind of obscured it a little. Photo below.

  1. The beach looks fabulous to take a winter stroll. Wish I was there! Today is warmer here in Cola but it was rather chilly the beginning of the week.
Mary, Your sunshine salad looked delicious! Good choice. Bill, order what Mary ordered. Fried pork chops can't be good for you with current food manufacturing processes.
Jedi the cat is doing fine recuperating from the neuter operation but still holding his paw up from abscess. Wonder how long it will take for antibiotics to kick in? Hope I don't have to trap him again to take him back to the vet.....
Miss you both! Enjoy the sunshine!
