Not much going on and not much to report. In some ways the weather this year in Florida reminds me of Ireland on steroids. In Ireland it rains every hour or so for about 10 minutes. Here it rains every 10 minutes. It starts raining in the form of a little shower, switches to a deluge, and then tapers off to a shower before quitting. 10 minutes later it starts in all over again. As proof that we are indeed in Florida I submit the following photo as evidence.
Because of all the rain we have managed to take in a couple of movies. The first one was called " The Big Short " which was basically a history of what led up to the banking collapse of 2008. I didn't think the movie was particularly well done but it was historically accurate and guaranteed to leave you mad as hell after watching it. I recommend this movie if for no other reason than it is educational and explains how the whole collapse happened. The second movie we took in was " Star Wars " which, as a fan of the original Star Wars movie, didn't impress me. The story line was weak and in the absence of plot line they filled the screen with 2 hours of incredible special effects. I can't recommend this movie unless you've never seen the real the original Star Wars in which case it might be ok. As usual I will keep you posted.
Bill, I liked "Star Wars". It was like revisiting 1977 and an old friend. I loved the music, the hyper fight scenes, seeing old characters and meeting new characters. I loved the strong, smart women characters/actresses in the movie and the female villains. For me, it was an enjoyable movie.
ReplyDeleteNow, the "Big Short" was also a good movie but I left madder than a wet hen (madder than I have been at Wall Street crooks and politicians that I have been since 2008). It still baffles me why the American public was forced into bailing out these greedy ##**!!%^^ and then judged for unemployment that skyrocketed after the near Depression the greedy Wall Street and politicians created. We need to vote the whole lot of them out and put in representatives that care about this country and care about Americans.
Also saw, "Joy" and felt better seeing this movie then I did with "The Big Short". This movie and true life story is the story of many Americans who had an idea and worked their way to bring it to life. Also like watching the tv show, "The Profit" I would definitely vote for Joy for President and Marc for VP!
